Fine Fescue Grass Turf
Fine fescues are drought tolerant, however they will go dormant (brown) until irrigated or rained upon. A deep watering once or twice a week is usually sufficient to keep a green lawn through Summer.
Fine fescue has a good salt tolerance for coastal areas and a very good cold (frost) tolerance and is excellent in shady areas.
Fine fescue is considered to have a moderate wear tolerance, but should not be used where there will be a constant amount of traffic, such as playgrounds, paths or car parking.
Fine fescue is one of the easiest grasses to keep weed free, as it has the ability to not only have the broadleaf weeds sprayed out but also all foreign grasses sprayed out without harming the fescue.
